KURT KITAYAMA

To win

To lead after the first round

Kitayama is in fantastic form, with three top-four finishes in his last four starts, including a play-off defeat in last week’s Turkish Airlines Open.

The American brings some momentum into this week’s event, having fired a 64 in the final round at Maxx Royal last week to get into contention.

Kitayama was joint-third after round one at both the Open de France and Italian Open last month, so he’s worth backing to make another hot start in South Africa.

HAOTONG LI

To win

To lead after the first round

I’ve already tipped Li each-way this week, and he looks a great option to take advantage of our first-round leader offer.

The 24-year-old has finished inside the top five at this event in each of the past two years and earned a T20 on debut in 2016.

Li has been in decent, if not spectacular form of late, but he held the lead at the end of the first round at the WGC-HSBC Champions at the start of this month and can get going early again at Sun City.

MATTHEW SOUTHGATE

To win

To lead after the first round

Southgate’s T21 in Turkey last week was his third top-25 place in his last five starts, a run that includes a runner-up finish at September’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The Englishman’s form has been underpinned by some strong starts. He was T12 after round one last week, following a T5 opener at the Portugal Masters last month and a T6 start at the Alfred Dunhill.

The 31-year-old is still yet to win on the European Tour so victory may be beyond him this week, but it would be no surprise if he starts well again.
