Back to win: Phil Mickelson

After struggling throughout the second half of last year, Mickelson made a strong start to 2019 with a T2 at the Dubai Desert Classic last month.

The 48-year-old finished just one shot behind winner Adam Long, and he should be back in contention this weekend at an event he has won four times since 1998.

Mickelson finished second last year – his second runner-up finish at Pebble Beach in three years – and earned a T4 when the US Open was held at this course in 2010.

That T2 last year was part of a run of four successive top-six finishes, which culminated in a win at the WGC – Mexico Championship, so he’s worth backing to extend his fast start to the year.

Each-way shout: Chez Reavie

Reavie is in great form, having started the season with a T3-T28-T4 run.

The world No. 49 ranks seventh in shots gained on the PGA Tour at this early stage of the season, as well as seventh from tee to green.

Expect his run of form to continue at Pebble Beach, where he finished T2 last season.

That result followed a runner-up finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, so Reavie looks primed for another strong week after contending in Arizona again last weekend.

Outside shot: Jimmy Walker

Walker won the PGA Championship in 2016 and was once ranked as high as 10th in the world, but hasn’t been at his best since he contracted Lyme disease in 2017.

This could be the week the 40-year-old rediscovers his form, however, given his history of success at Pebble Beach.

Walker won this event in 2014 and has finished 11th or better in six of his last eight starts, including a T8 last year.

A strong performer on links-style courses, the Texan looks well worth a punt at .
