Back to win: Bubba Watson

Watson, the Genesis Open’s only three-time winner in over 60 years, is primed to contend once again at Riviera this week.

The 40-year-old, who won this event in 2010, 2015 and 2018, comes into this week in decent form after a T4 in Phoenix a fortnight ago.

The Travelers Championship and the Masters are strong correlation events for the Genesis, so it’s no coincidence that Watson has also won those two tournaments a combined total of five times.

The big-hitter has never defended a title, but this course suits his game so perfectly that he’s just got to be backed this week.

Each-way shout: Cameron Smith

Smith closed out the 2018 season with a win at the Australian PGA Championship, and he’s made a good start to this year with a T22-T9-T15 run.

The Australian has finished inside the top 25 in eight of his last nine starts and has six top-10s in his last 12.

Smith’s  finished sixth at the Genesis last year, and his game is ideal for this course.

He’s an excellent putter on Poa Annua greens, and the unusual kikuyu grass used on the fairways is much more common on Australian tracks.

Outside shot: Sergio Garcia

Garcia took last week off after being disqualified in Saudi Arabia a fortnight ago for damaging five putting surfaces.

That meltdown has seen his price lengthen to , which looks too big given his past performances at Riviera.

The Spaniard has twice finished fourth at this event in his last five starts, along with a T6 in 2007.

Prior to that DQ in the Middle East, Garcia was on a run of seven successive top-10 finishes, including a win at the Valderrama Masters in October.

It’s worth backing him to rediscover his form this week.
