Back to win: Rickie Fowler 11/1
Rory McIlroy is a formidable favourite at Quail Hollow this week, but the 29-year-old is just too short at 6/1 given that he’s only won twice in the past two years.
Fowler looks a better bet, having won this event in 2012 and finished inside the top five in two of his last three starts at this course.
The American’s T9 at the Masters last time out was his third top-10 finish of the season, one of which was a victory at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February.
The world No. 10 hasn’t missed a cut in almost 12 months and has been incredibly consistent at this venue, with no MCs in eight successive appearances.
Each-way shout: Lucas Glover 40/1
Glover has hasn’t missed the Wells Fargo Championship since his 2004 rookie season and has been very successful at this event.
The American has made the cut 11 times in 15 starts, with four top 10s including a win in 2011.
He missed the cut in his last start at the RBC Heritage, but that can be considered a blip in what has been a remarkable run of results for the 39-year-old.
Glover’s made the cut in 10 of his last 13 starts dating back to October, finishing T17 or better on every occasion.
Outside shot: Kevin Streelman 80/1
Streelman finished T6-T14-T9 at this event between 2013 and 2015, and he looks poised to enjoy another good week this time around.
The 40-year-old missed the cut last year, but two successive sixth-placed finishes at the Valero Texas Open and RBC Heritage suggest he’s in the form to bounce back this week.
Quail Hollow is a driver-heavy course, which suits Streelman, who ranks 25th in shots gained off the tee on the PGA Tour this season.
Few players combine such solid recent form with a history of good performances at Quail Hollow, so the American is worth a bet at a big price.
