Back to win: Tommy Fleetwood

One of the stars of last year’s Ryder Cup, Fleetwood looks a great bet to better his best result at this tournament to date – a quarter-final appearance on debut in 2015.

The 27-year-old took four points from five at Le Golf National in September, proving he can get the better of the elite opponents that he’ll likely face in the knock-out rounds this week.

Louis Oosthuizen, Kyle Stanley and Ben An are all excellent ball-strikers who could beat Fleetwood in the group stage, but it’s hard not to fancy the Englishman to come out on top given his form.

He’s finished T3 at the Arnold Palmer and T5 at the PLAYERS Championship in his last two starts, and hasn’t missed a cut in eight months.

Each-way shout: Paul Casey

Casey is coming off a successful defence of his title at the Valspar Championship and is capable of going deep into an event he’s played well at in the past.

The Englishman has twice finished second at the Dell Match Play, with the most recent of those being in 2010 when he was beaten by Ian Poulter.

Casey won the HSBC World Match Play on the European Tour back in 2006 and proved again at last year’s Ryder Cup that he is a formidable opponent in this format.

Drawn alongside Cameron Smith, Charles Howell III and Abraham Ancer, the world No. 11 is one of the likelier top seeds to advance to the knock-out stages and has the mettle to go all the way.

Outside shot: Brandt Snedeker

Snedeker finished T30 at last week’s Valspar Championship, but picked up a T5 at the PLAYERS in his previous start and looks nicely suited to this week’s event.

The American ranks sixth in shots gained around the greens on the PGA Tour this year – an important stat at Austin Country Club – and has proven in the past that he’s a steely competitor.

While he’s never gone further than the last 16 in this competition, he took three points from three at the 2016 Ryder Cup.

Tiger Woods is hardly a daunting top seed to face in the group stage given his struggles in Paris last September, and it’s easy to imagine Snedeker beating Patrick Cantlay and Aaron Wise to make it out of Group 13.
