The Money List: Golf tips for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship
Jack Green's golf tips for this week's European Tour event in Scotland include a player to win and two each-way shouts.
BACK TO WIN
Tommy Fleetwood
Fleetwood finished a disappointing T60 after I tipped him at Wentworth last week, but his links pedigree means he’s worth trusting again in Scotland.
The Englishman finished second to Shane Lowry at the Open Championship in July and is a former winner of the Open de France.
Fleetwood has twice been runner-up at the Alfred Dunhill, including last year, when he finished a shot behind Lucas Bjerregaard.
The world No. 16 was on a run of five top-15 finishes from six starts before Wentworth, and should return to form – and the top of the leaderboard – this week.
EACH-WAY SHOUTS
Tyrrell Hatton
Hatton missed the cut at Wentworth but simply must be backed in this event.
The Englishman won the Alfred Dunhill in both 2016 and 2017 before finishing joint-second with Fleetwood last year.
Hatton has finished T14 at the Scottish Open and T6 at the Open Championship in 2019, so he’s worth backing to rediscover that form when he returns to the links this week.
The 27-year-old hasn’t won since the 2017 Italian Open, but he’s sure to contend after averaging just under 67 strokes over his last 12 rounds at the Alfred Dunhill.
Erik van Rooyen
Van Rooyen is in great form, having finished inside the top 20 in six successive starts.
The highlight of that run was his first ever European Tour win at the Scandinavian Invitation towards the end of August.
The South African has finished inside the top 20 at the Open Championship in each of the past two years, and also finished T4 at last year’s Irish Open and T14 at this year’s Scottish Open.
Those results prove he can go well at links courses, so he’s worth a bet given that he’s performed well in the two starts since his victory in Sweden.
