Back to win: Jon Rahm

Rahm finished T3 at the Northern Trust last week after holding the lead late on Sunday.

Going close like that can drain a player both physically and mentally, but that won’t be the case with Rahm.

He finished T3 at the US Open in June and went on to finish T2 at the Andalucia Masters and first at the Irish Open in his next two starts.

The Spaniard is simply playing better than everyone else. He’s consistently getting into contention, with his worst finish in his last six events being a T11 at the Open last month.

Each-way shout: Adam Scott

Scott has had an excellent season and looks primed to cap it with a big performance this week.

The 39-year-old hasn’t won since March 2016, but he has finished inside the top 10 on six occasions this season, including three times in his last five starts.

Scott has twice finished as a solo runner-up this season, and his record in this event and at this venue means this is a good opportunity to break through and earn a long-awaited victory.

He has four top-10 finishes in his last nine starts at the BMW Championship, and finished third when the PGA Championship was played at Medinah in 2006.

Outside shot: Ian Poulter

Poulter is worth a bet this week at Medinah, the scene of his most iconic triumph.

The Ryder Cup hero took four points from four matches at this course in 2012, and also finished inside the top 10 at the 2006 PGA Championship.

He comes into this week in good form, with three top-15s in his last four starts, including a T10 last week.

Poulter has had a good year statistically, ranking inside the top 40 in total shots gained, shots gained around the green and putting, and he’ll have a chance if he finds some of that Medinah magic with the putter again.
