Matthew Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick looks poised to finally earn his first win of 2019, having already finished second on four occasions this year.

The 25-year-old has been circling a victory for a while now, with three top-10 finishes in his last four starts, including at last week’s Nedbank Golf Challenge.

The Earth Course is a long track that shouldn’t necessarily suit Fitzpatrick’s style, but he has a great record here, having won in 2016 following a T4 on debut.

Fitzpatrick has won at least once in every year since his debut European Tour season in 2015, and this looks a great opportunity for him to keep that record going, and maybe even secure the Race to Dubai title.

Bernd Wiesberger

Wiesberger is also in contention for the Race to Dubai, and his form suggests he can improve upon his best finish at the Earth Course to date – a T4 in 2016.

The Austrian has had a fantastic season on the European Tour, winning the Made in Denmark, Scottish Open and Italian Open, with all three victories coming since May.

The most recent of those was just over a month ago when he beat Fitzpatrick by a shot in Rome, and his form extended to a T3 finish in South Africa last week.

The only doubt with Wiesberger is whether he can finish the job against an elite field, but he’s been in contention so regularly this year that an each-way bet is a must.

OUTSIDE SHOT

Lee Westwood

I’m backing Westwood again after he earned an each-way place in South Africa last week.

The 46-year-old has now finished inside the top-10 in back-to-back starts, having picked up a T10 at the Turkish Airlines Open a fortnight ago.

That represents Westwood’s best run of form since around this time last year, when he won the Nedbank three weeks after finishing in the top five at the Valderrama Masters.

He’s worth backing to keep his form going at an event he won in 2009.
