The Money List: Golf tips for the Honda Classic
Jack Green is backing an Englishman to return to form in his golf tips for this week's PGA Tour event in Florida.
Here's who Jack Green is picking in his golf tips for this week at PGA National.
Back to win: Justin Rose
Rose has only played the Honda Classic four times in the past 10 years, although he did finish inside the top five three times between 2010 and 2013.
The Englishman has been short of form this year and finished T56 in his last start at the Genesis Invitational a fortnight ago, but he did finish second to Matt Kuchar at the Singapore Open in January.
While Rose has dropped 12 spots in the world rankings since his last win in January 2019, it’s surely only a matter of time until his form improves.
This event, which features just six of the world’s top 20 players, looks a great opportunity to get back on track.
Each-way shout: Daniel Berger
Berger lost in a playoff on his Honda Classic debut in 2015 and hasn’t finished inside the top 25 in his four starts since then.
But the 26-year-old’s form at the start of 2020 suggests he’s poised to get back into contention this week.
Berger recorded a top-10 finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open at the start of February and followed that with a T5 at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am a week later.
He’s having a good season statistically, too, ranking 22nd in total shots gained on the PGA Tour and inside the top 40 in putting, scrambling and birdie average.
Outside shot: Charl Schwartzel
Schwartzel has made five starts since the start of December and achieved mixed results. The South African has only made two cuts during that period, but finished inside the top five on both occasions.
One of those came in his last start at Pebble Beach a fortnight ago, when he finished T5.
Schwartzel has had some success at PGA National in the past, having finished inside the top 15 in three consecutive starts between 2011 and 2013. He then missed the cut two years in a row before returning last year and finishing T16.
The 35-year-old is a big price this week, and the all-or-nothing nature of his form means he’s worth a punt.
