Back to win: Matt Kuchar

Kuchar is the current FedEx Cup points leader, and he should add a hefty amount to his total this week.

The American always plays well at the Memorial Tournament, where he’s second on the all-time money list. He’s finished inside the top 15 in 10 of his last 11 visits to this venue, with a T26 in 2015 the only exception.

Kuchar won this event in 2013 and looks poised to contend again, having won twice on the PGA Tour since November and finished T12 or better in each of his last five starts, including two seconds.

The incredibly thick rough of Muirfield Village makes hitting the fairways imperative this week. That suits the 40-year-old, who ranks eighth in driving accuracy on the PGA Tour this season.

Each-way shout: Rory Sabbatini

Sabbatini’s on fire at the moment, with five top 20s in his last five starts representing his best run of form since 2013.

Expect the South African-born Slovakian to feature at the top of the leaderboard again this week as he’s finished inside the top 25 in six of his last eight trips to Muirfield Village.

That run includes a T2 in 2012 when he was leapfrogged on the final day by Tiger Woods and lost by two strokes.

Sabbatini probably doesn’t have it in him to win his first PGA Tour event since 2011, but few players are in the kind of form the 43-year-old is in. He is well worth an each-way bet.

Outside shot: Jim Furyk

Furyk’s form has tailed off slightly since a run of four successive top 20s in March that included a runner-up finish at the PLAYERS Championship.

The 49-year-old did finish T13 at the Charles Schwab Challenge last week though and has a real chance at Muirfield.

Furyk has been the most accurate driver on the PGA Tour this year and ranks 13th in shots gained on approach to the green and 15th in greens in regulation percentage.

He won this tournament back in 2002 and has finished in the top five twice in the past 10 years.
