Back to win: Matt Fitzpatrick 

It’s a boring shout, but Fitzpatrick is the man to beat in the Swiss Alps.

The 24-year-old is the two-time defending champion at Crans-sur-Sierre, and he looks well-poised to make it a hat-trick this week.

Fitzpatrick is in brilliant form, finishing second at the Scandinavian Invitation last weekend and T4 at the St. Jude Invitational before that.

Small greens on the Swiss course mean scrambling ability is key, and that is another reason to back Fitzpatrick – he ranks eighth in this category on the European Tour this season.

Each-way shout: Alex Noren 

Noren’s first victory on the European Tour came at Crans-sur-Sierre in 2009, with the Swede then winning the event for a second time in 2016.

Course form tends to be a big factor in Switzerland, and Noren is one of 12 players to win here at least twice.

The 37-year-old failed to challenge at the Scandinavian Invitation last weekend, but looks well placed to make a run at a third Masters title after he finished with three 67s.

His lack of form with the putter may prevent that from happening, but his pedigree here makes him too hard to ignore.

Outside shot: Andrew Johnston 

‘Beef’ returned from a lay-off to finish an impressive T10 at the Scandinavian Invitation last weekend.

The Englishman has previous at this course, finishing third behind Noren in 2016, and he will fancy his chances at going two better this time round.

Johnston ranks 15th for scrambling on the Tour this year and in the top 25 for GIR, with his strong iron play perfectly suited for Crans-sur-Sierre.

Importantly, his strong return to action in Sweden suggests Johnston is in a good place to challenge for a win this weekend.
