Here's who Jack Green is picking in his golf tips for this week's WGC event at Chapultepec.

BACK TO WIN

Dustin Johnson

Rory McIlroy is the favourite in Mexico this week, but Johnson’s formidable record at this event means he has to be backed, even at this short price.

The American has won the WGC-Mexico three times, all inside the past five years, with two of those triumphs coming at this venue.

Last year, Johnson finished five strokes clear of runner-up McIlroy and 10 clear of the three players who tied for third.

DJ has three top-10 finishes in four 2020 starts, including a second in Saudi Arabia last month, so he’s in the form to win here yet again.

EACH-WAY SHOUTS

Tommy Fleetwood

Fleetwood has made a good start to 2020 and looks primed for a huge year.

After finishing first and second in his last two starts of 2019, the 29-year-old opened this season with a T2 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January and then finished T11 a week later at the Dubai Desert Classic.

Fleetwood has made three previous starts at Chapultepec, finishing inside the top 20 in all three including a T2 in 2017.

He has now surpassed Justin Rose as the top Englishman in the official world rankings for the first time in his career and should stay there with another good result this week.

Sergio Garcia

This event has been dominated by big names in recent years, so I’m opting for an extra each-way bet over an outsider at a big price.

Garcia has a great record at this event and has played particularly well since it was moved to Mexico three years ago, finishing T12, T7 and T6 in his three starts.

The Spaniard finished T37 at Riviera last week but has otherwise played well in 2020, having finished inside the top eight at both the Saudi Invitational and HSBC Championship.

While 2019 was a relatively disappointing year for Garcia, he did win the KLM Open and pick up nine other top-10 finishes, one of which came at this event.

The 40-year-old has won at least once in each of the last four years and has a chance this week at a course he clearly likes.
