Back to win: Jon Rahm 7/1
Rahm is red hot at the moment, with a T5 at Torrey Pines last weekend taking his streak of top-10 finishes to five starts.
That run includes a win at the Hero World Challenge in December, when the Spaniard shot a 65 on the last day to beat Tony Finau by four shots.
Rahm knows this course well, having gone to college at nearby Arizona State University and finished fifth here on debut as an amateur in 2015, and, while he's yet to improve upon that result, finishes of T16 and T11 since then are hardly discouraging.
At 7/1, his price is short, but fair given that he's in the mix every time he plays at present.
Each-way shout: Webb Simpson 20/1
Simpson was one of the most consistent players in the world in 2018, finishing seventh in the FedEx Cup standings and winning the Players Championship in May.
The American made a decent start to 2019 with a T9 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January, and should be in good shape this weekend having had three weeks of rest since.
Simpson missed the cut in Arizona last year, ending a run of five successive top-15 finishes, including a playoff defeat to Hideki Matsuyama in 2017.
Last year's performance can be put down to an off week, given how well he performed otherwise, and it's worth betting that he'll be back in contention this Sunday.
Outside shot: Brendan Steele 80/1
Steele has a great record at this event, with six top 20s in his last seven starts at TPC Scottsdale, including a T3 last year.
A specialist both in the west and on overseeded greens, it's no surprise that the 35-year-old routinely performs well on this course.
That two of Steele's three PGA Tour wins to date have come at the Safeway Open in California would suggest that when he's comfortable at a course, he's worth backing.
If you're looking for a punt at a big price, there's no better choice.
