Back to win: Jon Rahm –

A final-round 72 saw Rahm fall short and finish 11th in Phoenix last week, but the Spaniard looks primed to bounce back at Pebble Beach.

The world No. 2 finished fifth in this event on debut last year, and comes into this renewal in great form, having won the CareerBuilder Challenge – another California Pro-Am – three weeks ago.

Rahm enjoys this part of this season – his record on the West Coast Swing last year read T34-1-T16-T5, and he’s on track to at least repeat that run of results this year.

Currently ranked fourth in birdie average on the PGA Tour, he has the game to win an event that has been won by a score of 17 under or better in four of the last five years.

Each-way shout: Pat Perez –

A regular on the west coast over the past few years, Perez has made a solid start to this season, with a T4 at the Tournament of Champions followed by consecutive top-30s.

The 41-year-old’s form should continue at an event in which he has finished inside the top 15 in three of the last four years.

Perez ranks fifth in both GIR percentage and shots gained in putting this season – two areas that are key to success at Pebble Beach.

The American picked up six top-six places in 2017, and is a good bet to contend at the very least this weekend.

Outside shot: J.B. Holmes –

Holmes missed the cut in Phoenix last week but should fare much better this weekend in California – the state in which he finished fourth at the Farmers Insurance Open a fortnight ago.

The 35-year-old has a great record in this event: he has made the cut in 10 of 11 starts and placed 11th or better in two of his last three.

Holmes is the kind of player who can put together four fine rounds even when he’s not in great form. Three of his last four top-five finishes have come after a missed cut.

A poa annua specialist who ranks seventh in putting on the PGA Tour this year, his play on the greens could easily see him win at this big price.
