Regnum Carya Golf Club is hosting the Turkish Airlines Open for the second successive year after the event was moved from the original venue, Montgomerie Maxx, in 2016.

The par-72 course isn’t particularly long at 7,186 yards, and low scores are to be expected given that the rough isn’t penal and the weather won’t be an issue.

Carya’s greens are large and easy to hit, so those players who take advantage with the putter are the ones to back this weekend.

Six of the top eight last year ranked 10th or better in putting average.

The design of Carya, featuring pine trees lining the fairways and water on eight holes was inspired by courses in the UK, so British players should also have a natural advantage.

Matthew Fitzpatrick –

Fitzpatrick has found form at the perfect time, with five successive top-15s lifting him to 13^th in the Race to Dubai money list.

That run of results includes a win at the European Masters back in September, and another victory is a real possibility at a course that suits the 23-year-old’s game perfectly.

Fitzpatrick is not a big hitter off the tee, but he is accurate, ranking inside the top 40 in greens in regulation and driving accuracy on the European Tour.

Also with an excellent short game, he has all the tools to win on his first appearance at Carya.

Each-way shouts

Peter Uihlein –

Uihlein picked up a T5 at the WGC-HSBC Champions last weekend, his second successive top-10 finish.

The American has played well since he played – and won – the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship on the Web.com Tour last month.

He didn’t play at Carya last year but has had some success in Turkey before, finishing 11th at Montgomerie Maxx in 2014 and sixth a year later.

Ranking inside the European Tour’s top 40 in putts per round and putts per GIR, Uihlein looks poised for another successful weekend.

Marc Warren –

Few players on the European Tour have been as hot as Warren in the past few weeks.

The Scot has finished inside the top 15 in each of his last four starts, including a second place at the Portugal Masters and a T4 at the Alfred Dunhill Links.

Warren ranks first for putts per GIR on the European Tour this season and 14th in putts per round, and that success on the greens – along with his recent form – suggests he will easily improve on his T47 from last year.

At this price, he’s great value to earn a high finish, and perhaps even a win for the first time since 2014.
