Paul Casey –

Casey’s weekend at Erin Hills ended in disappointment, as he closed with rounds of 75 and 74 to fall from first to 26th.

But he should bounce back in Connecticut at a course he has performed well at in his two previous appearances.

The Englishman was beaten in a play-off by Bubba Watson at TPC River Highlands in 2015, and was a respectable T17 last year.

Casey was in fine form before the US Open, with three top-10s in his previous five starts, including sixth at the Masters.

Currently ranked third in approach play on the PGA Tour, he has the game to compete at a short course that doesn’t favour the bombers.

He's certainly worth backing, particularly at our boosted price of .

Brendan Steele –

Steele has achieved some impressive results in some strong fields this season, finishing 14th at the Honda Classic, sixth at the Players Championship and 13th at last week’s US Open.

The 34-year-old’s last win came at the Safeway Open last October, and it would be no surprise if he is again in contention this weekend.

Steele has played at TPC River Highlands in each of the past six years, finishing 13th or better on three occasions, including a T5 in 2014.

He clearly likes the course, and is worth a punt at this price given that he ranks fifth among the players at this event in total shots gained.

Graham Delaet –

Having finished third at this event in 2013 and fourth two years later, DeLaet has to be backed.

The Canadian has had a couple of rough patches of form this season, but when he makes the cut he tends to do very well.

He’s made it to the final two days in seven of his last 11 starts, and finished inside the top 10 in four of those occasions.

A top-30 player in shots gained off the tee, approach play and putting this season, he’s one of the most appealing outsiders in this field.

Best of the rest

Bubba Watson is a TPC River Highlands specialist, having won this event twice and finished inside the top five on two other occasions.

Back him to beat Daniel Berger – whose win at the St Jude Classic a fortnight ago was the only time he has finished higher than 36th in his last five starts – at .

Byeong Hun An had finished 25th or better with two top 10s in his last four starts before his missed cut at the US Open.

Back him to beat fellow debutant Emiliano Grillo – who has no top-10s in his last seven starts – at .

Webb Simpson has made the cut in his last seven appearances at this event, placing 13th in 2011 and fifth in 2013.

Back him to beat Zach Johnson – who’s finished better than 18th just once in his last eight starts at TPC River Highlands – at .
