Back any player to win the US Open and Betway will pay out if they lead at the end of round one. Here are Jack Green's first-round leader golf tips to take advantage of the offer.

Johnson won the US Open back in 2016 after firing a 67 in the first round that left him a shot off the lead.

His next major win came at last year’s Masters in November, in which he shot 65 on the first day to hold a share of the lead with two other players.

The world No. 1 comes into this event in mixed form and is therefore a relatively big price to win considering his pedigree, but he did finish in the top 10 at last week’s Palmetto Championship after a T2 65 in the first round.

Given his knack of starting fast in majors, Johnson looks well worth a bet at this price.

Scheffler ranks sixth on the PGA Tour in first-round scoring average this year after a series of solid opening rounds.

In his last start at the Memorial Tournament earlier this month, the 24-year-old shot 67 on Thursday to be T2 at the end of the first round, before going on to finish solo third.

He was also T3 after round one at the Farmers Insurance Open – played at Torrey Pines, where this US Open takes place – in January.

Scheffler has only played in the US Open once previously so a win here may be beyond him, but he’s a rising star on the PGA Tour and looks a great bet to get into contention early on again.

JASON KOKRAK

I’ve tipped Kokrak as an outsider this week after he won the Charles Schwab Challenge in his last start, and the American looks a good first-round leader bet, too.

He opened with a T3 65 in that win at Colonial three weeks ago and has consistently started well this season, ranking top among all players on the PGA Tour in first-round scoring average.

Kokrak shot 68 on the first day at last year’s US Open, leaving him inside the top 10 at the end of Thursday’s play.

He may not quite have the class to win this event, but it’d be no surprise if he starts well again given his recent form.
