2.15 - Legacy Cup Stake (Newbury)

ARCHITECTURE  is coming back from a long layoff, but there’s absolutely no doubting her class.

She was second in last year’s Oaks, finished in the same position in the Curragh version, and then was beaten by only 2.25 lengths in a German Group 1 just over a year ago.

If fit, this Group 3 should be well within her range and she can get her career back on track.

Four-year-olds have won four of the last eight runnings of this race and she’s in that age group.

3.25 - Dubai Duty Free Handicap (Newbury)

Having picked his Architecture earlier in the card, I’m going to go for another Hugo Palmer stable inmate in this tough looking handicap.

ANYTHINGTODAY  seems to tick all the boxes to land this Class 2 prize.

Pat Smullen has a decent strike rate over the last two weeks and takes the ride aboard this gelding who is drawn in stall nine.

Three-year-olds have won three of the last five times this race has been run, and this horse is back down in trip after disappointing last time out.

That’s where the value kicks into his price.

4.00 - World Trophy Stakes (Newbury)

THESME has been on my radar this season and I still want to persevere with her.

Her run in the 2016 Nunthorpe confirms her promise and she can run well from the front in this Group 3.

She fits the age and profile of recent horses who have placed in the race, and her draw in stall nine looks to be ideal, too.

3.10 - Cesarewitch Trial Handicap Stakes (Newmarket)

HAVANA BEAT  has only ever won two races across his long career, but this seven-year-old takes the eye in this long distance handicap.

He won a listed two-mile race back in 2014, but has been well-beaten in three flat starts this season.

He’s coming nicely down the weights, though, and three decent efforts over hurdles have primed him for this autumn assault on this Class 2 contest.
