The Southern National has cut up to just seven runners, but I think this has been an early-season target for CAPTAIN CATTISTOCK since his chase victory here in April.

I expect him to take all the beating under Lorcan Williams and his 3lb claim.

He generally jumps well, seems to stay well and, in this reduced field, I expect him to be ridden handily and move on with a circuit to go to make it a real test for his rivals.

The Greatwood Hurdle is as competitive as ever, but I do think Alan King's horse HARAMBE should be high on everyone's list.

He's got a touch of class about him and ran OK first time out this season at Chepstow when clearly needing the run and tiring late on.

He made plenty of improvement last season which rounded off with a good second behind Getaway Trump at Sandown Park. He should love this ease in the ground and looks set to go well.

Paul Henderson is a very shrewd trainer and I think his mount TED BACH will take plenty of beating in this race.

He won at Fontwell off a mark of 93 last season and is now back to a mark of 94. With his favoured soft ground underfoot, he should go very well.

The last race on the card is the Listed bumper race and I'm keen on Philip Hobbs' horse EVERGLOW.

He ran at Chepstow in the same bumper that Hobbs has won so many times before and, granted normal improvement, shouldn’t be too far away with Richard Johnson in the saddle.
