With £10,000 up for grabs on Saturday, here are Chad Yeomans' best horse racing tips for Haydock and Ascot to get you started.

14:25 HAYDOCK

The opening race is the Grade 3 Stayers’ Handicap Hurdle, which has long been a springboard for future big-race success.

Paisley Park won this contest last year before going on to become the staying champion over hurdles, winning the World Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival in style.

There doesn’t look to be a horse of that calibre in the field this year, but there are some very smart types who will finish the season on a much higher mark than their current.

The horse I really like in this race is the Jonjo O'Neill-trained TEDHAM , who is much better than his mark of 130.

He placed in several novice hurdles behind various horses who were clearly more forward, namely Al Dancer at Carlisle, The Big Bite at Chepstow and Getaway Trump at Exeter.

He made his seasonal debut at Cheltenham at their Open Meeting in October, and ran a very good race over a trip which was clearly too short.

He was wide all the way round and made stealthy progress until he was outpaced coming down the hill. It looked as though he was going to finish nearer last than first, but he found his second wind and stayed on up the hill to finish a very good sixth.

This step up to 3m for the first time at an easy track like Haydock should be to his liking and he should be followed closely, especially if the market speaks in his favour.

15:00 HAYDOCK

The feature race of the day is the Grade 1 Betfair Chase and, sadly, there are only four runners going to post.

The race is not lacking in class, however, with BRISTOL DE MAI and Lostintranslation  going up against each other.

I do think the latter will be a better horse long-term and has more natural ability, but the former has been here and done it - this is his hunting ground, his Gold Cup.

He's won this race for the past two years and I think, with conditions in his favour, he's going to be very hard to beat. 

15:20 ASCOT

The Hurst Park Chase looks fiercely competitive with plenty at the head of the market who are all easy to make solid cases for.

The one horse I think will outrun their odds is the Dan Skelton-trained MARRACUDJA  , whose owners, Foxtrot Racing Club, won this race last year with Caid Du Lin.

Marracudja finished third in this race last year and this will have been the target since. He was an eye-catcher over 2m at Cheltenham last time out when the ground was absolutely bottomless, but this better surface will be more to his liking.

15:40 HAYDOCK

The closing race in this week's 4 To Win is the Stayers' Handicap Chase run over 3m4½f.

Ian Williams won this contest last year and saddles ZERACHIAL this time around, who won over course and distance in March 2018 - this will have been a target for the shrewd Alvechurch handler ever since.

He’s very lightly raced for a nine-year-old so there may be a little more improvement in him, and first time out may be the best time to catch him.
