With £10,000 up for grabs on Wednesday, here are Chad Yeomans' best horse racing tips for Goodwood and Galway to get you started.

14:25 GOODWOOD

Synonymous with the winner’s enclosure at Goodwood is the Middleham based trainer, Mark Johnston. He is the name every punter should have on their lips when looking at this fixture and specifically, the handicaps.

The Scot has won this particular race three times in the past 10 years and has gone very close with others. This year, he saddles three runners with a chance.

Sir Ron Priestley is the shortest of them in the betting and it’s no surprise to see why.

He’s won three of his four starts this year (the only defeat coming at Royal Ascot, when things just didn’t go right) and he looked back to his best last time out when winning a £62,000 pot at Haydock.

Mind The Crack looked way ahead of his handicap mark when dotting up off 82 in May and he won again a little over a week later.

17:55 GOODWOOD

A competitive field closes this card, with a maximum of 20 runners going to post for this seven-furlong handicap.

Light and Dark travelled really well when dropped to seven furlongs last time out and duly bolted up at Newmarket in a race from which seventh place has since won.

A few of his rivals from that day line up again and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t have the measure of them, despite an 11lbs rise.

Last year’s winning combination of Richard Hannon and Ryan Moore team up again with Mr Tyrrell , although he’d have to produce a career best to the take the prize back to Everleigh.

19:20 GALWAY

Gordon Elliott (2016 and 2018) and Henry De Bromhead (2015 and 2017) have won the last four renewals of the Galway Plate between them and they head the betting.

Elliott's Borice is the current ante-post favourite, being well-supported in the build-up to the race following his latest two victories over hurdles by distances of 33l and 34l respectively.

The French import has clearly acclimatised and has snuck in at the bottom of the handicap.

Elliott saddles another five in the race including the second favourite, Mengli Khan , who ran a very good race when finishing third in the JLT at the Cheltenham Festival.

He is certainly a class act - though he doesn’t win that often - and we all know how good Elliott is at priming his horses for the big occasions.

Henry De Bromhead has taken aim with Heron Heights , Poker Party and the stalwart Valseur Lido .

Heron Heights - the mount of Robbie Power - looks to be the stable's main hope off the back of a victory at Punchestown in May.

20:00 GALWAY

Ger Lyons knows what it takes to win this race as he’s taken this prize home three times in the past four years.

This year he saddles two in the race, with Zander looking like the stable’s main hope under Colin Keane.

He won a maiden at this meeting last year, so you know he’ll act on the track. He was gelded in the spring, and his first run back this season wasn’t too pleasing, but it was in a much better race.

He has since shown signs of coming back to form.

Jessie Harrington won back-to-back renewals of this race in 2009 and 2010, and saddles Tauran Shaman , who impressed on his only start when winning at Killarney two weeks ago.

Blyton climbed up the handicap in the UK last year when trained by Tom Dascombe and a return to form could see him go close.
