With £10,000 up for grabs on Thursday, here are Chad Yeomans' best horse racing tips for Newmarket to get you started.

13:50 Newmarket

Top Pick: Nayef Road | Second choice: Severance

The Bahrain Trophy is seen as one of the key trials for the St Leger, despite only one winner in the previous ten actually going on to win the final classic of the season - in 2011, when Masked Marvel was ridden to victory by Jimmy Fortune.

Masked Marvel’s trainer John Gosden has won this race four times in the past 10 years and his sole representative this year is Waldstern, who is sure to be popular in the hands of Frankie Dettori.

His trainer must think he’s up to this to have kept him for this race, however, on the bare form, you’ll be betting on him on potential and not what he’s actually achieved.

NAYEF ROAD does have the form in the book and has ran very well on all four starts this season, including when really appreciating the step up in trip in the Queens Vase at Royal Ascot, where he just got caught in the soft ground with a matter of yards to go.

A typical Mark Johnston horse, you can expect him to be tough and very difficult to get past. Given an easy lead, he will be very hard to stop.

Severence ran very well at the Royal meeting at Ascot last month and can outrun his odds too.

15:00 Newmarket

Top Pick: Street Parade | Second Choice: Barbill

Favourites have had a horrible time in this race in the past ten years, and I’m hoping that stat continues.

I’m not hugely convinced the ante-post favourite Aplomb really deserves to be at the head of the betting based on what he’s actually achieved.

My top pick is Street Parade, who strikes me as an improving sprinter on the up.

He is in the care of Stuart Williams, who has a fantastic record with training sprinters and comes here off the back of an excellent run last time at the July course at Newmarket, when only just failing to give Wedding Date 20lbs.

He was closing at the finish and this step back up to six furlongs will suit him down to the ground. With Betway paying five places, he’s worth backing each way.

Barbill has run some great races in defeat, including a narrow defeat in the Group Three Cornwallis at Newmarket last October. He looks overpriced and can run well off a mark of 98.

16:40 Newmarket

Top Pick: Momkin | Second Choice: Bell Rock

Only six runners go to post for the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes, but cases can be made for each of the runners.

My preference is for MOMKIN, who comes here off the back of a very good run at Ascot, where he didn’t get the best of runs but stayed on to the line to only be beaten three lengths in the Jersey.

Prior to that, he had a luckless run in the Guineas, which a line can be drawn through, while he was just beaten a neck in the Craven Stakes on his seasonal debut.

The step back up in trip to one mile, and a smaller field, will make him a huge player in this race.

Betway Ambassador Andrew Balding saddles Bell Rock who can get his season back on track with a big run here.

I suspect he’ll run better than he did at the Royal meeting and will be worth backing each way, despite having something to find on official ratings.

17:10 Newmarket

Top Pick: Moqtarreb | Second Choice: Enigmatic

The final race is a handicap over a mile and my top pick is MOQTARREB for trainer Roger Varian.

Moqtarreb only shed his maiden tag last time out on the fifth try, but did so very decisively. He seems to be an improving horse.

As for the rest of the field, a lot of his opponents do also look exposed and you know what you’re going to get with the majority of them.

However, Enigmatic has been running good races consistently this season and may also be overlooked under the talented amateur Darragh Keenan, who claims a very valuable five pounds off.
