TOP PICK: PERFECT CLARITY

Second choice: Star Rock

John Gosden has won this Group 3 contest in three of the last six seasons, though notably all of those successes came with the favourite.

His entry for the 2018 renewal, Highgarden, is likely to go off at a double-figure price. She’s yet to win this season and her last two defeats at Listed level suggest she might not be up to this. 

PERFECT CLARITY is another filly on a losing run, but in much tougher races than her aforementioned rival - with Clive Cox’s three-year-old highly-tried in the Oaks and then the Ribblesdale.

With the distance last time possibly an excuse, coming back to 1m 4f in this Group 3 might be the key to her winning at a very nice price.

15:00 NEWMARKET

TOP PICK: MAIN EDITION

Second choice: Just Wonderful

MAIN EDITION was well-beaten in Ireland last time out, but Frankie Dettori keeps the ride in this weaker race.

I’d expect this juvenile filly to add to her fantastic first-season record of four wins from six races.

15:35 NEWMARKET

TOP PICK REGAL REALITY

Second choice: Zabeel Prince

A rare five-runner race for 4 To Win but, with a good case to be made for each runner, we can’t dismiss this as easy.

I’d suggest opposing likely favourite Mustashry, as the form of his win last time out at Doncaster is open to question. 

REGAL REALITY’s victory at Glorious Goodwood looks the best form on offer in this race.

He can be excused his defeat on heavy ground last time and looks set to bounce back for top connections here.

16:10 NEWMARKET

TOP PICK: OUZO

Second choice: Tempus

This is the toughest race of the competition, with a double-figure field of two-year-old horses in their first season of racing, over half of which will be appearing for the first time.

Interestingly, the majority of winners of this race over the last decade were making their debuts, and were also around midway in the market at an average SP of about 8/1.

OUZO looks the best of those with form already in the book, for a stable that are known for doing well with their younger horses.
