With £10,000 up for grabs on Saturday, here is Chad Yeomans' best advice for the races at Ripon, Newbury and Newmarket.

14:05 RIPON

The first leg of this week’s 4 To Win is the Silver Trophy; a consolation race for the Great St. Wilfrid Handicap.

The race has been won by three four-year-olds, three five-year-olds and a six-year-old in seven runnings. This year there are three three-year-olds looking to take the prize home for the first time.

Eight-time Ripon winner Pipers Note  is the oldest horse in the field and bids to become to oldest winner since the race’s inception in 2012.

Rookie trainer Tim Easterby saddles four runners, and Hyperfocus  catches the eye off a mark of 89. That is 1lb lower than his previous winning mark, which came at Ripon in June.

Royal Brave  finished second in this race last year but must defy a 4lbs higher mark this year.

14:45 NEWMARKET

The Grey Handicap is always heavily contested and has been a bookies friend in previous years, with no favourite taking the prize in the past decade.

Aim Power  caught the eye with a good challenge in the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot and could become the third three-year-old winner in the past six runnings.

Richard Hannon also saddles the ante-post favourite, Chatham House  , a winner on his previous start at Newbury.

Glenn Coco  won four in a row at the start of this season and hasn’t run badly since, finishing fourth and third in his last two starts.

He has been given a 4lbs rise for that half-a-length defeat here recently, but similar would surely see him go close under Marco Ghiani, who is a very valuable 7lbs claimer.

15:00 NEWBURY

This seven-furlong handicap has been won for the past two years by Squats, who isn’t running this year.

That’s good news for the connections of Graphite Storm  , who has finished third and second in the race for the past two years and will be looking to make it third time lucky.

Ripp Orf  runs in all the big seven-furlong handicaps and always runs a very good race, but no victories this year means his handicap mark has slipped to 92, the lowest it’s been for over a year.

The David Elsworth-trained gelding looks sure to go well in a smaller field than his previous contests.

Sanaadh  ran a much better race than the form suggested last time out in the Bunbury Cup and Michael Wigham has booked Jamie Spencer for the ride.

15:15 RIPON

As ever, the Great St. Wilfrid Handicap is ultra-competitive. All selections should be backed each-way as every runner who runs in behind is sure to encounter traffic problems.

Summerghand  has been running well all season without managing to get his head in front and the David O’Meara-trained gelding bids to give him his fourth win in 11 renewals of this race.

Last year’s winner Gunmetal  lines up again following some unlucky defeats this summer in some of the bigger sprint handicaps, although he is 4lbs higher in the handicap.

Megan Nicolls has her first ride in the race aboard Great Prospector  for trainer Richard Fahey and the owner Mr and Mrs J D Cotton, for whom Megan’s father Paul has trained many winners.
