14:10 Market Rasen

At the head of the market is Longhouse Sale , who is currently unbeaten in eight career starts.

In the care of Dan Skelton, who won this race in 2016 with Red Tornado, he bids to become only the second winner of the race to carry top weight, following John Constable , who managed the feat two years ago.

He lines up again off a mark 15lbs lower than what he won off two years ago, so he'll surely go close.

Ingleby Hollow   may go under the radar on his first start over hurdles for 119 days, when he finished down the field despite travelling well throughout the race.

He had a pipe opener on the flat 19 days ago and shaped as though he’s coming into form and shouldn’t be overlooked. His trainer David O’Meara won this race in 2011 with Viva Colonia, so this may have been a long-term target.

14:25 Newbury

The Marsh Cup is in its infancy, with the inaugural running taking place in 2018. That went to an Irish raider as Stratum, trained by Willie Mullins, took the spoils.

Stratum was owned by Tony Bloom, who also owns Withhold , who runs in this year’s race on his seasonal debut.

He hasn’t been seen since finishing eighth in the Geelong Cup in Australia last October, but prior to that landed two gambles to win the Cesarewitch in 2017 and the Northumberland Plate in 2018. He has been well-supported in the run up to this race.

Carnwennan has been a revelation this year, winning his last three starts for trainer Charlie Fellows. He comes here off the back of a very convincing win in the Northumberland Vase at Newcastle last time.

Can he continue his progression in the flat staying division?

National Hunt trainers are always worth following in these flat staying handicaps and Ian Williams saddles two in the race, including Reshoun , who is having his first run back after a wind op but has always looked as though a step up to two-miles would really suit.

15:20 Market Rasen

The feature race on the card at Market Rasen is the Betway Summer Plate Handicap Chase, which rookie trainer Peter Bowen has taken six times in its 24-year history.

His stable really comes alive in the Summer months and this year is no exception. He has already taken feature pots at Cartmel and Newton Abbott this term.

This year, he saddles recent Newton Abbott scorer Henryville , who trounced a competitive field over an extended 3m2f trip last Saturday.

He might find this 2m5f trip too short, but he does come here in flying form. The Welsh trainer also saddles last year’s winner, More Buck’s who looks to have been campaigned around this race.

Dan Skelton, whose horses are in great form, recently highlighted Gortroe Joe as the horse he’s laid out for this pot and it wouldn’t be a surprise to the see the course-and-distance winner prevail under his stable jockey and brother, Harry Skelton.

An interesting fact for punters to look out for is that 11 of the last 17 winners of this race actually finished first or second last time out, which doesn’t look good for last years winner More Buck’s who could only manage a sixth place.

15:40 Newbury

The Super Sprint has been running since 1991 and was designed for horses sold as yearlings by public auction for less than £60,000.

The concept was devised by Lord Carnarvon and Richard Hannon Snr, who won this race no less than seven times as a trainer.

The weight carried by a horse in the Sprint is determined by its sale price, with one pound deducted for each £5,000 below the maximum value and fillies are entitled to a 5lb allowance.

In recent years, Richard Hannon Jnr and Richard Fahey have been the go-to trainers to look for in this race, with Hannon winning two in the past five years and Fahey having taken the trophy home three times in the past six renewals, including in 2015 when he trained the winner, the second and the fourth.

It’s interesting to note that a single-figure draw hasn’t won this race since 2011, and in the last two years a high draw has filled the first four places on both occasions.

The 2019 running looks likely to have a a short-priced favourite as Ventura Rebel comes here off the back of a narrow defeat at Royal Ascot, when he was only beaten a neck by A’Ali in the Norfolk Stakes.

Certainly, a repeat of that or any of his two prior runs, which were both victories, would see him land this bumper pot.

Others to mention at much bigger prices are Mighty Spirit , Maybellene and Dynamightly , all of whom are drawn low.

With Ventura Rebel drawn in seven, though, there will be plenty of pace from the low numbers, so they shouldn't be overlooked.
