There was one very happy winner of the £25k jackpot in 4 To Win, Betway’s free-to-play prediction game, on Saturday afternoon.

Duncan, a 48-year-old from Stockport, scooped the prize after correctly guessing the winner of four selected races and the combined winning distance (12 lengths) in the tie-breaker.

“I have previously won 4 To Win,” said Duncan, “but only smaller amounts because it was a shared pot.

“This time I had a good look at the cards in the morning. Hometown Boy, Thyme Hill and Happygolucky (the first three winners) were all fancied, so I went with them.

“I didn’t see the first two races but got home in time to see Happygolucky win at 16:15. I knew I had a clean sweep if Rachael Blackmore could win the Grand National.”

Duncan says he was aware that Blackmore had gone well at Cheltenham in March so was happy to back her to continue her good run.

“I picked Minella Times simply because of Blackmore,” he said. “She is in a really good patch of form.

“I still didn’t know if I had the tie-breaker right when she won, though. There was still a bit of uncertainty but thankfully I got the call to tell me that I’d won”.

The jackpot rescued what had until that point been a disappointing Saturday for the Manchester City fan.

“I was gutted that City had lost to Leeds earlier in the day,” he said. “Fortunately winning the £25k jackpot eased the pain!

“I haven’t decided what I’m going to do with the money yet, but I’m certainly planning to enjoy it.”
