14:25 Newmarket

Four of the seven races at Newmarket on Friday are sponsored by Godolphin, so you don’t have to be the shrewdest judge to know which stable will have targeted them.

The Oh So Sharp Stakes, a group three race over seven furlongs, is up first.

The Godolphin saddle Final Song  should be very hard to beat in current form. It’s hard to envisage her not going off as favourite.

She was a winner on debut and has finished second in two group twos since. Her trainer Saeed Bin Suroor has a great record in this race, winning it in both 2014 and 2015.

At a bigger price, Vividly could be worth following.

She was third on her debut at Newbury, before she was a ready winner at Goodwood in August.

She hasn’t been seen since, but her trainer must think she’s ready to be pitched in the group company off the back of that maiden.

14:40 York

The second leg of 4 To Win is an ultra-competitive 0-100 handicap at York. I’m sure it’ll be a bunched finish, with most of the protagonists rated towards the higher end of the handicap.

David O’Meara trains five runners and Firmament  looks the stable's main hope.

The seven-year-old is a course-and-distance winner this term, although he has not won on soft ground since 2014.

Further down the card, Zap takes the eye off a mark of 86.

He ran well in the Bunbury Cup and was very good at Goodwood the next time out.

15:50 York

This three-year-old handicap over 1m6f has only been run four times.

The first three winners were drawn in stall six and last year's winner was drawn in stall five, so there must be something about that position.

Space Walk  is in stall six for William Haggas and The Queen this year.

He is an improving colt and should run well in the hands of Martin Dwyer, who has a 13 per cent strike rate in rare riders for Mr Haggas.

Donald McCain is better known for being a national hunt trainer, but he saddles Navajo Pass here, who was a game winner last time out.

I expect him to run a huge race, before being campaigned over hurdles this winter.

16:10 Newmarket

The Old Rowley Cup is the final leg of Friday's 4 To Win.

It is the combination of Gosden and Dettori who lead the market with First In Line .

On his third career start, he registered his second win of his career, looking like a horse who was going to run in group races before too long.

He has since lost twice as favourite, though, which has kept him in handicap company.

Off top weight, on potential soft ground, he may be opposable.

It could be worth following Rhythmic Intent , who will be ridden by Hayley Turner.

Stuart Williams' colt ran a very good race at Ascot last time, while he is a soft ground winner and will relish the conditions in front of him here.

He could look very well treated off his mark of 84.
