14:05 LINGFIELD

TOP PICK: ENCORE D'OR  Second choice: Ornate

The first of two classy Betway-sponsored races on the Lingfield all-weather card, which will be shown on ITV4.

It's a small field but a case can be made for each runner.

Gracious John and ENCORE D’OR fought out the finish to this race last season, with the former prevailing by a short head. I’ll take the latter to gain the upper hand this year, having been in better form going into this race.

14:40 NEWCASTLE

TOP PICK: BAYWING  Second choice: Kilkishen

A marathon trip of over four miles for this classy handicap chase. Favourites have a poor record in the race with just one win in the last eight runnings of the contest.

Claiming jockeys have had a decent run of success with three wins for conditional jockeys in the last four seasons. The weight they are taking off is a valuable advantage when travelling this distance, especially if the ground has some cut.

Last year’s winner BAYWING can follow up having shown a liking for the conditions.

15:00 KEMPTON

TOP PICK: ANGELS BREATH  Second choice: Scarlet Dragon

In the last eight seasons this race hasn’t been won by a horse returned at an SP over 5/1, and in that time 50 per cent of the runnings have been won by the favourite.

This will be a fast-paced hurdles contest on the forecast good ground.

Trainer Nicky Henderson has won this race in three of the last six seasons. His ANGELS BREATH should justify favouritism.

15:35 KEMPTON

TOP PICK: DOUBLE SHUFFLE  Second choice: Modus

We stay at Kempton for the final race of the competition.

I really like the chances of DOUBLE SHUFFLE from the Tom George stable. He ticks a lot of the boxes of previous winners of the race and his trainer won this in 2009 and 2012 with Nacarat.

Highly-tried in the King George here last time, this course and distance winner can improve on his 2017 run when second in this race.
