Here are Alan Alger's best horse racing tips from Wincanton, Ascot and Haydock to get you started.
13:45 WINCANTON
TOP PICK: ADMIRAL’S SECRET | Second choice: Gino Trail
We have a small but open field in a Betway-sponsored handicap chase on our Kingwell day at Wincanton.
Course-and-distance winner ADMIRAL’S SECRET refused to race at Haydock last time out, but that quirky behaviour at the Lancashire track is not something he has displayed before.
Prior to that, he had been in excellent form and looks weighted to take this ahead of his four rivals.
14:10 ASCOT
TOP PICK: BLACK CORTON | Second choice: Art Mauresque
Ascot hosts a bumper card this Saturday, and this is one of many exciting races at the Berkshire venue as UK racing makes up for lost time.
Bryony Frost was in winning form at Fakenham yesterday and can follow up with a win on BLACK CORTON here.
This is his ideal trip and he can end a losing run which was extended to five races with defeat at Kempton last time.
15:20 ASCOT
TOP PICK: LISP | Second choice: Mont Des Avaloirs
We stay at Ascot for a classy Grade 3 hurdle.
Al Dancer is a horse likely to head the betting after his 100 per cent start to this season, winning at Carlisle, Ffos Las and Cheltenham. Getway Trump, his rival at the top of the market, also has a lot to offer on his best form, although this is his handicap debut.
I prefer the claims of LISP, who is trained by Alan King. He was narrowly beaten in a slightly better race over course and distance last time, but showed form that should put him right there with a big chance at a nice price.
15:35 HAYDOCK
TOP PICK: RED INFANTRY | Second choice: Vieux Lion Rouge
We leave the toughest race for last, a marathon trip and around 7/1 the field.
This race has been landed by a horse within the first three in the betting the last four seasons.
RED INFANTRY ticks a lot of boxes, including the fact that he has won over course and distance.
Vieux Lion Rouge, the 2017 winner could be the biggest danger.
