2.05 YORK

TOP PICK: ALTERNATIVE FACT

Second choice: Kings Gift

The rain hit York on Friday afternoon and the ground was cutting up, so there could be a few surprise results on this card in this competitive handicap.

ALTERNATIVE FACT looks to have a very good chance of getting his head in front. Everything looks right for Ed Dunlop’s colt – including the softened ground.

2.25 NEWMARKET

TOP PICK: KADAR

Second choice: Magna Grecia

Only one of the intended runners in this race has failed to register a win this season, so this should be a hot juvenile contest.

Karl Burke’s KADAR looked very impressive when winning on debut and the evidence of the clock suggests he’ll take a lot of beating here.

2.25 Newmarket: Kadar

3.15 YORK

TOP PICK: FLYING PURSUIT

Second choice: Teruntum Star

This is a tough sprint handicap to unravel. It’s around 6/1 the field.

The draw will play a part, although the middle of the track looked favoured on Friday, with most jockeys able to tack into that ground from any stall.

Rachel Richardson rode a great race on Just Hiss for us yesterday and FLYING PURSUIT can land her another winner.

3.15 York: Flying Pursuit
{{::outcome.FormattedDecimal}} {{::outcome.Numerator}}/{{::outcome.Denominator}} 8/1

3.40 NEWMARKET

TOP PICK: JUST IN TIME

Second choice: Uber Cool

The Cesarewitch, a historic handicap over a marathon distance, is sometimes won by a handicap snip or heavily gambled ante-post springer. Case in point Withold last year, who won this at 5/1.

The only other favourite in the last decade was Darley Sun at 9/2. In between we’ve had winning SPs of 25/1 50/1 and 66/1 twice.

Alan King’s flat runners are to be respected and I like the look of JUST IN TIME who is seeking a hat-trick.
