Politesse  is a really intriguing runner. She’s got some form in the book from last season and comes here fresh off a break. She’s got Connor Orr’s 3lb claim to help. It wouldn’t be a surprised if she went close.

Jonbon  is much the best horse in the Betway Top Novices’ Hurdle. I thought he ran very well in the Supreme at Cheltenham and probably got beaten by a freak. He’s very solid.

I LOVE L’Homme Presse . I thought he was unreal at Cheltenham. I just love the way he attacks his fences then comes away quickly from them. That’s his real weapon and I don’t think the others can match him. If the rain falls, it’ll only help his chances too.

Fakir D’Oudairies  won this race last year and when you look through them, he’s probably only one of two or three who really want this 2m4f. The rest look like two milers who are in between grades, whereas he is a solid horse. He can sometimes put in an iffy jump, but on the whole, he’s a grand over a fence and won’t mind the decent ground.

Batcio  runs for Dad in the Topham Chase. Again, Betway are paying seven places on the Topham and with his running style and the fact he’s a grand jumper, you’d love to think he’ll finish in the first seven.  He’s run well this season and although he’s not obviously well handicapped, he’s got the ability to win off this mark.

Banbridge  did it really well in the Martin Pipe. He’s a typical improver. I was impressed with the way he put his head down and dug deep. This is also a very average looking Grade 1 contest and of the runners, he looks like the one who could go on to win other graded races. Joseph’s horses are in grand form, too.
