The prestigious Cesarewitch and high-class Dewhurst feature in a great card from Newmarket, while the unofficial start of the National Hunt season is heralded at Chepstow.

Here are my best each-way bets on one of the best racing days of the year…

media

3.00 – Dewhurst Stakes (Newmarket)

Expert Eye  is a rightful favourite for this race.

But I really like the chances of U S NAVY FLAG   for record-chasing Aidan O’Brien.

He’s already into double-figures for runs as a juvenile, but he’s come into some cracking form of late and should at least feature in the places.

The Ballydoyle trainer has won this race in three of the last four seasons while Ryan Moore is in the saddle on Saturday.

If he runs up to his best he will give the favourite plenty to do.

media 3.35 – Handicap Hurdle (Chepstow)

DINSDALE   can find the required level of improvement to strike a blow from bottom weight in this competitive handicap hurdle.

He’s fresh from a reappearance run on the flat two weeks ago and comes here with a great chance of adding to his sole career success at Newbury back in March.

He beat some good types that day and is well handicapped to play a part here.

3.40 – Cesarewitch Handicap (Newmarket)

This is the kind of race that this column lives for, with plenty of each-way scope, lots of runners and a number of Betway concessions on the places (see site for details).

The grey mare STAR RIDER   can outrun her price for the Hughie Morrison stable.

Richard Kingscote takes the ride and he has a +25.38 level one pound stakes profit at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile course.

Five of the last 10 winners of the race returned at SPs of higher than 20/1 so we can aim for the stars with this five-year-old.

4.50 – Boadicea Stakes (Newmarket)

Richard Kingscote also takes the ride on the reasonably consistent EARTHA KITT  in the Boadicea Stakes.

She has some great form in the book including a second to the well-regarded Queen Kindly, who is the likely favourite for this race at .

Tom Dascombe’s filly can reverse those placings over this course's slightly-uphill finish and I expect her to swoop late for at least a top-three finish.
