The Ebor Handicap takes centre stage on this fourth and final day on the Knavesmire.

We’ve already seen plenty of pointers for the big races at the back end of the Flat racing season, and some towards the varied ambitions for 2018, and Saturday will be no different...

1.55 – Strensall Stakes (Group 3)

MASTER THE WORLD  was a bit unlucky last time at Salisbury and is better judged on a decent handicap win at Glorious Goodwood earlier this month.

He has a mixed record at York in three previous runs at the track but has got his head in front once here - back in 2014 - and can do so again.

2.25 – Melrose Handicap

A race where we might see the next generation of decent staying handicap horses.

It’s also a contest where some may have to raise the white flag long before they get to the finish line. This is all about being able to handle a long trip.

LOOK MY WAY  has decent placed form in these kind of races already and he’s also from the Andrew Balding stable, which is in fine form.

3.00 – Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2)

NEBO  has been beaten into second on his last two starts, but one of those defeats was an extremely narrow one to subsequent Guineas favourite Gustav Klimt.

That showing at Newmarket puts him right in the frame to take this race against some more exposed juveniles.

3.35 – Ebor Handicap

This is the feature race and, as always, it's a difficult one for punters to weigh up.

I like the look of NAKEETA who was second in a Listed race over course and distance back in May.

Callum Rodriguez takes a valuable 5lb off today and his mount is a decent each-way play at .

Later races

In the 4.10, I think BENGALI BOYS is a very worthwhile favourite at with the connections and conditions to suit.

The 4.40 features the interesting FIRST FLIGHT who is gradually coming down the weights and is an outsider at a stand-out price of for an each-way bet in a race where anything could happen.

Finally for the lucky last at 5.15, where HOLMESWOOD  can land the hat-trick under the aforementioned Callum Rodriguez.
