Andrew Balding: My thoughts on our 10 Friday runners
The Betway ambassador previews his Friday runners, including two going to post at the Doncaster St Leger Festival.
Two Doncaster runners
Tack , who is a half-brother to Tactical, is making his debut in the opener (13:10). Like his sibling, he is owned by Her Majesty The Queen. He’ll be fine in time, but I get the feeling he might just need the experience.
Hoo Ya Mal won well at York last time after a good debut third at Sandown. He’s improving and he looks up to this step up in trip. I’d like to think he’ll go well (13:40).
Five going to Chester
Rival has run well at Chester on two of three occasions there. I think 1m2f around that track is ideal and he should go well (14:50).
Nebulosa will want the rain that is forecast and it will really help her cause. She looks fairly handicapped on what she’s done so far, and the track should suit her (15:25).
Aegis Power showed a bit on debut at Kempton, but he was green. I think he’ll have no problem with going up in trip and the track should pose no issues, either. He should be competitive (16:00).
Papa Power has been off a long time but has done plenty of work and I’m happy with him. Whatever he does, though, he’ll improve from (16:30).
Two Sandown runners
Carolus Magnus was a bit disappointing at Lingfield last time, but he’d been off a long time and was entitled to be a bit rusty. I think the mile should suit him well (14:30).
Roscioli won well at Newcastle on his penultimate start and ran OK at Windsor last time after what was a stop-start gallop. Running to his best form, he’d have a chance (16:05).
Two more at Salisbury
Berkshire Rocco was a star for us last season. He’s another who hasn’t run for a long time having been off since February.
He’s a high-class horse, though, who has been working very well at home and, given the favourable conditions of the race, he should go very well. It will be good to get him back on the track (18:15).
Eikonix won well last time and this extra furlong should suit him well. He carries a penalty, but Will Carver’s 3lb claim will help negate that. He has a chance (18:45).
