The Betway ambassador previews his eight runners on Friday at Chester and Ascot.

Red Mirage 9/1 won well last time at Chelmsford. He obviously handles conditions and should be competitive (13:30 Chester).

Coltrane 11/2 also runs in the Chester Cup and this test should suit him well (15:15 Chester). It’s his first time running around Chester, and you never know if a horse will handle its tight nature, but he’s been going well on the all-weather of late and he’s got ability on his day.

King’s Lynn 9/4 was second in this race last year and we know how much he improved for that first run. He goes on any ground and seems in grand form at home, but it’s very difficult to carry a penalty (15:45 Chester).

Scampi 7/2 won well last time and should be there or thereabouts again (16:20 Chester).

Auriferous 4/1 is solid, consistent and goes on any ground. We think he’ll stay well and if he does, he’s a strong candidate for this race (16:55 Chester).

Follow That Star 11/4 was a good second at Sandown last time, where she was beaten by a filly who is now vying for favouritism in the Oaks. I’ve been pleased with her since. She will stay further in time, but if she runs a similar race to last time, she won’t be far away (15:25 Ascot).

War In Heaven 14/1 is out of the handicap but I wanted to get a run into him on a straight track.  He ran okay last time, but this is another step in up class for him (16:00 Ascot).
