Andrew Balding: My thoughts on our 7 Saturday runners
The Betway ambassadors gives the lowdown on all his Saturday entries at Haydock, York, Goodwood, Newmarket and Lingfield.
13:20 Haydock
Classic Lord shaped well at Chester last time, where he probably needed the run. It should bring him on a bit and, although it’s a competitive race, the ground shouldn’t be a problem. He’ll be there or thereabouts.
14:40 York
Tribal Craft ran very well in a Listed race last time out. She’s stepping up in class again, but the ground should be no problem for her and, if she were to get placed, it would be brilliant for her paddock value.
14:50 Goodwood
Oo De Lally has had some very tough assignments of late. We’re dropping him back into a handicap and I’d like to think these could be his optimum conditions. I don’t know how soft will be too soft for him.
15:00 Haydock
Nebulosa won well last time out and I think this step up to a mile will suit her well.
She does need to learn to settle better at the start of her races. She’s been known to over-race at times, but she’s in great form at home and I’m hopeful she’ll go well.
15:25 Goodwood
Morando will absolutely love the ground – the more testing the better for him.
I thought he ran very well in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester, despite the race not really being run to suit him. He’s in good form.
15:40 Newmarket
Cadeau D’Or has been a big disappointment in his two runs this season. At the start of the year, I thought he was a very well-handicapped horse, but he’s just not shown us that on the track so far this term.
We’re trying cheekpieces with him and he’s dropping back in trip, so we hope that can help.
19:55 Lingfield
Berkshire Miele has been off the track a long time. She shaped with plenty of promise over a trip far too short last year.
She’ll like this extra 2f and won’t mind the give in the ground. I hope she runs very well.
