Andrew Balding: My thoughts on our weekend runners
The Betway ambassador assesses the chances of his Saturday and Sunday runners at Leicester, Wolverhampton, Doncaster and Salisbury.
Sunday runners
We only have one runner on Sunday with Aldbourne making his debut in the 14:00 at Salisbury.
He’s drawn handily enough and will be winning races this season, but you just never know first time up.
Saturday runners
Shine So Bright is running back soon enough after his run in the Abernant at Newmarket last week.
He ran well but the one thing we learned from that is that he wants 7f now. He’s got a little to find on official ratings, but the fast ground will suit him in the 14:10 at Leicester.
Spirit Mixer is regally bred but it’s very obvious that he was some way short of what we’d hoped for last season.
He’s had a good holiday and has been gelded over the winter. He’s on a reasonable mark in the 18:15 at Wolverhampton and looks a work in progress at this stage.
Quickstep Lady should have every chance in the 19:30 at Doncaster. She’s run well on the all-weather on both starts this term.
Her fitness levels are good and, on her day, she is more than capable of winning a race of this nature.
