Andrew Balding: My thoughts on our 6 Friday runners
The Betway ambassador assesses all his chances at Newmarket and York on Friday.
Newmarket runners
Perfect Sensation is having her first start on a racecourse (13:15). She’s a filly we like based on what she has shown us as home. She doesn’t lack ability, but I do think she’ll come on for her first run.
Nymphadora has run some good races in defeat since her victory in the Marygate at York back in May.
That seems like a long time ago now as she’s had a long season but dropping back to 5f on slower ground could see her run well again (13:50).
Majestic Glory was very disappointing last time, but Ryan [Moore] just felt that she was never comfortable on the fast ground. She has viable place prospects on slower ground and with an extra furlong to run over (15:35).
Spirit Mixer is 4lb out of the handicap, but he’s at the right end of it. He was a good second at Haydock last time and can run with credit again (16:10).
Auria is stepping up in trip now. She was slightly disappointing last time and we’ve agreed that she might just want to go a little further. Hopefully that suits her better as she’s a talented horse (16:40).
One entry at York
Star Caliber stays really well – he’s been crying out for this further step up in trip (15:50). He’s been very keen in his races, so I just hope he settles. If he does, then he’s got a chance as he’s consistent.
