It’s great to be back for another season as brand ambassador for Betway. We were very pleased with how last season went.

We started again on January 1 and we’ve already had a good few months so far. It’s important to set the foundations for the upcoming flat season. It’s been great to have a few winners and to get some of the horses in the yard to shed their maiden tags before this season.

We’ve got over 200 horses for the season and this a really exciting time of year. The grass gallops have just opened and it’s all coming together now, especially with the recent good weather we’ve had.

Sunday runner

Typewriter  did well last year, managing to win twice. She’s still a little backward in her coat, but that will come in the next few weeks. She’s got an obvious chance but, I have to say, it does look a competitive race at Doncaster (17:25).

Saturday’s runners

Wolsey ran OK at Wolverhampton last time. I think he’ll have come on from that from a fitness point of view and his experience should be helpful on this inner track at Kempton (13:30).

May Night was a little disappointing last time. We expected more of him but they went at no pace and it didn’t suit him. We’re trying cheekpieces to sharpen him up and with the good prize money on offer, I hope he gives it a good crack at Doncaster (14:25).

Auriferous won as well as he was supposed to at Southwell last time. I’d say he’s come on for that run, too. The extra half mile here will be to his advantage and given how consistent he was last year, I’d like to think he’s got the ability go well in this at Kempton (14:40).

Notre Belle Bete thrilled me with the way he won the Lincoln trial at Wolverhampton a few weeks back. His work has improved since his first win for us, and I actually think he won without handling the track and without an ideal draw.  He’s a nice horse and I think he’ll give a very good account of himself at Doncaster (15:35).  

Groundbreaker ran twice last season, finishing fourth and second. He improved from his first run to his second which is always a good sign. I think he could be a nice horse in the making and he should progress nicely this season. He’s got a tendency to be a little keen, so as long as he handles the preliminaries well, he should go close at Doncaster (16:10).

War In Heaven has done well to win his last two, despite not being totally in love with the track at Lingfield. I think this extra furlong, and Kempton as a track, should suit him better.  He’s on for the hat-trick, which would be great, especially as this is up in class at Kempton (16:30).
