Haydock

Duty Bound  (13:00) is a really sound, good-natured horse. He goes to Haydock to run over 1m4f, and I like the way he goes about things.

Vintage Valley  is also starting out in the same race. He’s a lovely type who will come on with experience.

Oo De Lally  (14:05) is a consistent horse who is a real 7f specialist. He’s better with ease in the ground and should be running in the top 7f handicaps this season. He always gives his all.

Angel’s Point (14:40) is a work in progress. She’s a good-looking and well-bred filly, but she’s still very green, is slightly goofy, and hasn’t been the easiest to train. There is latent ability there though and she’ll learn with experience.

Leicester

Aegis Power  (14:10) will run if the ground isn’t too fast. He ran well last time and is a decent horse. I can’t believe he’s still a maiden, but I suspect he won’t be for too much longer. He could shape into a nice stayer and perhaps he could be our Melrose horse this year.

Happy Power  (14:45) finished second at Wolverhampton last time and will run at Leicester in the Richard III, providing it’s not too quick for him. We’ll assess that after the first few races, but it would be good to win this race as the owners like to target it for obvious reasons.

Wolverhampton

Goolwa  (19:50) is a nice horse who won a Listed race at the back end of last season. She’s still rated 94, so although she’s a Listed winner, it makes sense to run her in handicaps until she loses her Listed penalty in the summer.

Doncaster

Wolsey  (20:05) is stepping up in trip now. He was disappointing last time out but the winner of his Wolverhampton race ran well at Epsom in the Derby trial so there is hope that he could run well here.
