Celtic Champion  (14:15 Windsor) is a lovely horse, who is a half-brother to top sprinter Dragon Symbol. He’s been shaping up well at home so we’re looking forward to getting him going. Windsor maidens generally take some winning, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he ran well on his debut.

Happy Power (14:25 Newcastle) runs in the Chipchase Stakes. He was going to run at Royal Ascot last weekend, but the ground was against him. He’s a seven-furlong specialist, so these aren’t his ideal conditions, but he’s fit and well and will take his chance. There’ll be opportunities for him over seven at Goodwood and races like the Hungerford at Newbury will also be on his radar.

Something Enticing  (14:40 Newmarket) will need the rain to come. I’m not sure how much they’ve watered, but she wants cut in the ground. She’s likely to travel up, but we’ll make a call on the day.

Auriferous (14:55 Newcastle) has been consistent all year. I’d say these are pretty much his optimum conditions, so on his best form you’d say he’ll be in the mix.

Mellow Magic  has also been very consistent at her level this year. She’s in good form and if she gets some luck in running, I hope she can go well in the same race. Her and Auriferous are closely matched.

Bounce The Blues  (15:15 Newmarket) will also need rain. She ran well at Haydock on rain-softened ground earlier in the season, but my feeling is that she’ll miss the rain. We’ll make a call in the morning.  

Spirit Mixer (15:30 Newcastle) ran well in the circumstances at Chester last time. He’s been a revelation this season. The question mark is around him truly staying a stiff two miles, but it looks a good place to try it.

Valley Forge has had the same race as a target for a while. He won well over two miles at Haydock last time and this stiff two miles should suit him well. He’s drawn wide, but so are some other good horses, so we’re just going to need some luck.

Lady Labelle  (15:50 Newmarket) ran very well at York last time and I’m hopeful she can run well again.
