As the curtains draw on another season, we’re absolutely delighted to have broken the £3m earnings mark, which is a real credit to the whole team here at Park House Stables.

While there are heart-breaking days, like as when we lost stable favourite Beat The Bank, there are also plenty of joyful times.

A particular highlight for me was Donjuan Triumphant winning the Group One Champions Sprint at Ascot on Champions Day. It is a day that will be etched in my memory forever.

Success in those big races lifts the spirit in the yard and it’s what we all do it for.

It was a great to read Richard Philips discussing the idea of a National Racehorse Day. It's something that I think is a fantastic idea.

Horse welfare is hugely important and is something we can’t be blind into showing the general public and opening our doors to help educate people. I’m looking forward to seeing how this idea develops and I’m sure the whole racing community will be behind it.

We don’t have many runners this weekend, but we do have two important ones on Friday.

We’re honoured to have two very talented two-year-olds flying the flag for us in group ones, with Kameko heading to Newcastle for the re-scheduled Vertem Futurity Stakes and Shadn is over in America as our first runner at the Breeders’ Cup in the Juvenile Fillies’ Turf.

Newcastle on Friday

Kameko  is in similar form to last week and has been kept ticking over.

He’s been impressing us in his work and I do think he’ll go very close.

It’s obviously a very different assignment to the original race at Doncaster, but it was great that the race was re-opened. It has a more open look to it now and it’s great for racing to stage its first group one on an all-weather surface.

Breeders' Cup on Friday

Shadn  has been superb for us this season, she hasn’t let us down once and owes us nothing.

She has travelled over well and we’ve been nicely drawn in stall three. I think she’ll enjoy the turning mile and we’d be delighted if she were to place in what is a very tough race.

Newmarket on Saturday

Perfect Sunset very green on her debut at Kempton and didn’t really know what was going on after. She got left behind in the stalls.

She’s one who’ll improve with racing, and getting experience into her is key.

She works well at home, so we would be encouraged if she could run a nice race, but we won’t see the best of her until next year.

At this time of year, we often try to get some black type for some of the fillies who will have one eye on the next stage of their careers.

We’ll be searching for some opportunities on the continent.

Doncaster next week

Our final runner of the flat season will come in the November Handicap at Doncaster next Saturday, which has been the target for Diocletion for a while.

He’s been kept for this since his easy success at Chester last time and he’s in smashing form at home. We’d be hopeful he’ll run very well in what is always a fiercely competitive race.
