Newmarket July Festival

Frankella has been a bit disappointing but, I have to say, I have a feeling she is better than she’s shown. She broke smartly last time but perhaps didn’t get home on softer ground over 7f, so we’re dropping her down to 6f and, on quicker ground, we’re hoping for an improved show (13:20).

Bangkok  is interesting back over 1m 4f. I have a feeling he wants this trip now. He’s a talented horse on his day, who has run well in defeat in good races. I think he’s worthy of his place in this field (15:35).

Newbury

Rodin  is pretty consistent and brings a fair level of form into this race. He stayed 1m well last time and won’t mind any give in the ground. Oscar Palmer is yet to ride a winner but rides very well at home. I hope the pair have a good chance (17:50).

Sir Henry Cotton is better than he’s shown so far, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he went well. The one question mark would be the ground. Some of his relations have gone well with cut in the ground, but we’ll only find out if he does on the day (18:20).

Hey Teacher  is making his racecourse debut. He’s a work in progress who is the type to improve for racing and the experience (19:50).

Epsom

Gyenyame was disappointing last time but I think that was down to us backing him up fairly quickly. He won’t mind the ground and, if he handles the track, he should run with credit (18:00).

Bellport  is a little limited physically but could be competitive in this grade. She’s had three runs now and will have learned with each start (18:30).
