Wolverhampton runner

Discomatic  is our only runner this weekend. He goes in the 5.30 at Wolverhampton.

He was a good second last time out and he appears to be learning on the job. He looks up to winning races in time, but he seems in good form.

While the race conditions perhaps suit the filly who is getting weight from everyone, we do think he’ll run well.

All-Weather Championships

We’re looking at which of our team that could have a campaign on the All-Weather this winter.

It’s yet to be confirmed, but we could have both Nate The Great and Cleonte for the Betway Stayers’ division along with Shine So Bright for the Betway-sponsored Sprint category.

Bangkok was an impressive winner of the Betway Winter Derby Trial last season and, depending on how he gets on in Bahrain, he could be one for the middle-distance division.

Pleased with Kameko's efforts

We were obviously very disappointed with the finishing result, but - bar the last 50 yards - Kameko ran a cracker in Kentucky and we were so pleased with him.

It’s very difficult at the end of a long season to get them in peak condition to run in November in America, but he gave it his best.

With the draw he was given, he had to be ridden a touch more aggressively than we’d have liked and that perhaps took its toll in the latter stages of the race.

He’s left the yard now and has gone off for a new life as a stallion. We wish him the best of luck.

He’ll long be remembered here as one of the best horses we’ve had in the yard. He gave us some fantastic days, especially when winning the 2000 Guineas.

Disappointment in Australia

Dashing Willoughby was really disappointing in both of his starts out in Australia, but it could just be that he hadn’t fully acclimatised.

Of all of the horses that we’ve sent on international missions, he’s the only one who appears to have not really acclimatised the way we’d have hoped.

He’s given us and his owners some great days and I wish him and his new connections all the best of luck. I’m sure he’ll be winning them plenty of races over in Australia.

Impressed with Ranch Hand

We were very impressed with Ranch Hand’s winning debut over hurdles this week.

He was free and fresh, and perhaps needed the match fitness, so I’m expecting him to be better next time.

It’s not set in stone, but he could go to Haydock on the December 2 for an Introductory Novice Hurdle. Obviously it’ll be tougher, but if he goes well there, he might give us cause to dream and go for something bigger.
