There have been some fantastic performances at York this week.

It was great to see Enable win on her final appearance in England and Stradivarius got the job done again to win the million pound bonus. He is some stayer.

We have a busy day on Saturday, with runners across the country and a number of our big guns out.

York on Saturday

13:50

Bangkok  takes his chance in the Strensall Stakes - I still believe he’s a very high-class horse.

He is dropping back in trip here, but he has a good cruising speed and as long as it’s a truly run race I fancy him to run well.

We’ve been really happy with him since his last run at York, which I think you can put a line through as we were worried about the soft ground beforehand and Silvestre de Sousa said it didn’t suit him.

He was second to Japan at Royal Ascot so some bits of his form are very strong now. The ground will suit much better this time and we have to be hopeful.

14:25

The Melrose is always a very competitive handicap and we run Lariat  . I’m a bit concerned about the going as he has quite a round action, but he has run well on quick ground in the past.

He’ll probably take his chance, although I’d be worried about those right down the bottom of the weights like Starczewski and Land Of Oz. You don’t normally get into the Melrose off a mark in the low 80s, so they are going to be dangers.

15:00

Shine So Bright   has been off since the 2000 Guineas, which has to be a bit of a question mark. We’ve been pleased with his work and an easy seven furlongs is his optimum conditions.

He had an issue before Ascot but he’s over that now and we’re very happy with his well-being. He will come on for it and might be a bit ring rusty at this level. It looks a very strong race indeed.

15:40

We were delighted that Cleonte   managed to sneak into the Ebor, the prize money is absolutely fantastic. I know he won over further at Royal Ascot, but this will be a strongly-run race and stamina will be important.

He seems in great form and has had an excellent preparation. Whether he’s good enough is another matter, we’ll have to see. He is getting some weight off most of his rivals and in Stakes races he’d be level weights.

We’re drawn in stall one. In an ideal world we would have been more in the middle but we’ll take what we’ve got and hope he runs a big race.

16:45

We won this race for King Power last year with Pivoine and it would be lovely to do it again for them with Johnny Drama  .

He’s drawn wider than we would have liked but it is what it is and we’ve been very happy with him at home since Goodwood. He was a bit unlucky there and I think this track and trip will suit him well.

Goodwood on Saturday

14:05

We were thrilled to win the Celebration Mile with Beat The Bank last year and we’ll try for another with Happy Power  .

This looks a tidy race, as it should be for the grade, with a number of progressive three-year-olds in there. Our horse brings Group One form to the table having run so well in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

He wouldn’t want the ground to be very fast, but good-to-firm will be fine and he’s very well.

14:40

Shadn  did well to win a Listed race at Newbury last time and stepping up a furlong won’t be a problem. She’s in fine form at home and hopefully she can run a nice race.

I was very impressed with Charlie Hills’ Vividly when she won a maiden here earlier in the month and she will be a danger to all.

15:15

Dutch Treat  has had a long lay-off since running in the Fred Darling at Newbury in April. She wasn’t right after that but is back in good form now, although it’s going to be a tough ask taking on seasoned older horses.

She was talented enough to finish second in a Listed race a year ago and should run a half decent race despite the break.

Windsor on Saturday

17:15

I’m looking forward to starting King’s Lynn for The Queen. He’s a nice two-year-old but is making his debut against horses who have experience, which is always difficult. He will go on to bigger and better things.

18:20

There are only six runners in this Listed race and Grace And Danger is a well-bred filly who ran nicely in the Cheshire Oaks back in May.

She has had a break to tee her up for an autumn campaign and wouldn’t want the ground to be too fast.

19:20

Our final runner on a busy Saturday is Oloroso in the mile handicap. He’s been unlucky and deserves to have won more than he has. He’s settling much better now, which is a positive.

Goodwood on Sunday

14:30

Queen’s Soldier is yet to get his head in front but he has been placed on his last six starts so he’s been consistent.

There’s some decent money on offer in this seller and it would be nice to pick some up. He should have every chance.

16:10

Foxtrot Lady ran a much better race in the Oak Tree Stakes over course and distance at the Glorious meeting. That was her first start over seven furlongs so it was encouraging to see her run well up in trip.

She doesn’t have a great draw in this Group Three and it looks a tough race with the likes of Limato, Fox Champion and Suedois in there.

We’d be delighted if she could pick up some black type.
