Andrew Balding: My thoughts on our five Thursday runners
The Betway ambassador previews his two runners at the York Ebor Festival on Thursday, plus three more at Windsor.
York runners
We have two good fillies running in the Lowther Stakes (13:50).
Sandrine is three from three in her career including the Duchess Of Cambridge at Newmarket last time out. She carries a 3lb penalty because of that, but we’re really happy with her.
She can’t do any more than what she’s done on the track and brings the best form into the race.
Nymphadora could also be very competitive. She’s a course winner and I think that really helps at York. She ran very well in the Molecomb at Goodwood last time and she’s now stepping up in trip, which we think she is ready for.
Harrow will probably carry a few pounds overweight as the top horse has kept everyone’s weight down. As a result, Oisin [Murphy] will be riding at his minimum riding weight.
I think he’s a horse who is well handicapped off this mark, so he must have a good chance (16:10). He’s drawn well, too.
Windsor runners
Quickstep Lady has been disappointing this year but, on her homework, is more than capable at this level. She’s now back in a handicap having run in a Listed race last time out (17:55).
Fox Premier has been a hard horse to train. He’s been off a while and will probably need the run to get back to full race fitness (18:55).
Roscioli won well at Newcastle last time out. It was his first crack at 1m2f and he’s stepping up again here by another 1½f. He seems in good nick at home, so we’ll see how he gets on over this new trip (19:55).
