We are all absolutely delighted to see racing get back underway this week and are very grateful to all those who were involved in getting our sport back safely and securely.

The staff in racing are so important and the new processes that have been put in place will safeguard the welfare of all staff attending race meetings. Every precaution has been taken to eliminate any risk to every individual.

Here at Park House Stables, we’re also grateful to our fantastic group of loyal owners, who, in a time of such uncertainty, have been incredibly patient, understanding and supportive, and we hope we can enjoy some successes together this season.

We have our first runners this week and, overall, I’m delighted with where the horses are but, as ever, you never know how fit they are until you get them out on a racecourse.

We’ve declared Hold Fast , who is a lovely filly who improved from her first run where she was seventh at Goodwood to finish a good second back at the Sussex course a month later.

She’s been working nicely and does seem fit and well, but she’s in against the colts here and that does make it a slightly tougher test.

The other one we’ve declared for Kempton is Uncle Toby , who is named in memory of my late uncle, who would have loved this type of horse. He’s a big, fine gelding who is gorgeous to look at.

He’s been a bit of a slow developer but, from his homework, he looks like he’s starting to get it together.

He shapes as though he could be a real stayer and is the type to improve with racing, so it will be good to get him started and see what we’ve got with him.
