As ever, I’m very much looking forward to Royal Ascot this year. We’ve got a strong team with plenty of chances throughout the week, but this is some of the most competitive racing in the world, so we’ll need a little luck on our side.

Tuesday runners

Berkshire Shadow impressed me when he won on his debut at Newbury. I thought he shaped really well and looked as though he’ll want this extra furlong.

While the fourth in that race has won since, the rest of the form hasn’t worked out that great, but he was the best horse on the day and that’s what mattered.

He’s slightly drawn on the wing, which isn’t overly ideal, but I hope he’ll run well as he’s a good horse (15:05).

Stone Of Destiny obviously has it all to do at this level, but I do think that there is a fine line between the very top handicappers and the others in these top Group sprints so, if everything went his way, then he could run better than his price would suggest (15:40).

It’s worth remembering that he was fourth in the Commonwealth Cup as a three-year-old.

King’s Lynn would have a more realistic chance in the same race (15:40). He’s got the profile of a horse who could break in at this level at some stage.

I was pleased with him at Haydock when he won the Betway Achilles Stakes and I’ve been happy with him at home since, too. He’s only had eight career starts so is still lightly raced and unexposed and, for a sprinter of his age, I hope the best days are yet to come.

We did have the option of going for the Wokingham, but the draw is very important in a race like that and we thought we’d try him at this level as that will help us steer him in the right direction throughout the rest of the season.

Fox Tal is talented, but quirky. He has his own mind on things and carries his head high during his races, but we know he has the ability, especially at this level.

I think he’ll really like the quicker surface, which may suit him better than others. I can see him running a big race (17:35).
