The UK’s biggest betting operators, including Betway, are ensuring that four chosen charities are also winners at this year’s Royal Ascot.

The initiative has the backing of our fellow Betting and Gaming Council members and despite there being no crowds at the Berkshire racecourse, there will be plenty of cheer around the country.

Michael Dugher, Chief Executive of the BGC, said: "Royal Ascot is the premier highlight of the racing calendar.

"It’s fitting that the profits betting companies make from one of its greatest races will go towards some fantastic causes.

"The betting and gaming industry has stepped up to help the national effort, and I’m delighted that again we can show our support for those on the front line with this fantastic initiative."

The industry’s latest charity initiative follows the success of April’s Virtual Grand National, a televised event which raised £3 million for NHS Charities.

Betway will donate ALL profits made from win and each-way single bets on the Britannia Stakes.

Betway spokesman Alan Alger said: "We are delighted to be supporting such a worthy cause and we hope the industry can achieve a big sum that can support and make a difference to the four charities involved.

"It’s a great initiative in what looks a really open race."
