14:30 Queen Anne Stakes

Starting in the Queen Anne, Inspiral is the best horse in the race, but she was hit-and-miss in her three-year-old season.

With MODERN GAMES   being more reliable, I’ll side with him to get us off to a strong start at Royal Ascot. He was a good winner of the Lockinge at Newbury and should come forward for that.

15:05 Coventry Stakes

The Coventry looks a great clash between the first two in the betting in River Tiber and Asadna. They’ve both done nothing wrong and look very good two-year-olds. I had hoped that they’d be drawn closer together, but that’s racing.

They take up the chunk of the betting, though, so at a slightly bigger price, I think BUCANERO FUERTE   should go okay. He did really well on his debut at the Curragh in March and has been kept for this. His owners are mad keen for a winner at Royal Ascot and this one should give them a good run.

15:40 King's Stand Stakes

I’m a huge fan of HIGHFIELD PRINCESS  , although her price isn’t a giveaway in such a big field. She’s simply the best of these.

I’m also going to have a few quid on MOONEISTA   who ran really well last year. She was a beaten favourite on her comeback run, which was her first of the season, but she will come on for that.

16:20 St James's Palace Stakes

Of all the short-priced favourites today, I’d say CHALDEAN   is the most solid. He’s got a good draw and I think Frankie will be able to sit handy and play the race as he likes. He’s done very little wrong in his career and looked very smart again when he won the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Royal Scotsman is a horse who will be a danger if he bounces back to form, though. I think he could give him most to do.

17:00 Ascot Stakes

The favourite Bring On The Night has obviously been laid out for this and won’t be far away, that’s for sure. Willie Mullins knows how to win these big staying handicaps on the flat.

NOVEL LEGEND  got beaten at Chester last time, but it was a bit of a messy race, so I’m inclined to put a line through it. He’s got a great draw in stall 1, so he’ll be able to hug the rail and have a ground-saving trip. I don’t see many downsides to backing him with Betway paying six places on the race.

17:35 Wolferton Stakes

Buckeroo does have Group 1 form but I’m edging toward FRANCESCO CLEMENTE  . He was only beaten a neck on his run at Goodwood last time and I think he’ll have come on for that. They’re putting cheekpieces on for the first time and that should help with his concentration.

Frankie is riding Saga for the King, which makes Francesco Clemente look like a second string, but I’d say this horse will be right in the mix.

18:10 Copper Horse Handicap

It’s all about VAUBAN   in the last in what could easily be a double on the day for Willie Mullins. His price is skinny enough for a horse who hasn’t run on the flat before, but he’s not far off Champion Hurdle class and is the one they all have to beat.
